About the teacher:
Kiki, originally from České Budějovice, Czech Republic, has over 5 years of experience of teaching Czech as a second language. She has professional background in formal and informal education as well as academic background in psychology. Drawing together her knowledge of the Czech language, understanding of learning mechanisms and second language acquisition she prepares lessons that are educative with a lot of space for speaking practice, infused with a taste of Czech culture.

All groups are of a small size to provide as much space for interaction as possible. The lessons are designed to enhance your vocabulary as well as to help you understand the tricky Czech grammar. Starting with some easy everyday conversational phrases you progress to more advanced topics that will allow you to experience Czech language and culture in more depth.
Beginners 1 – (A1/1) – 10 weeks – 60 mins/lesson

This course is designed for complete beginners. Focusing on the first three units of the Čeština expres 1, you will get a first taste of the Czech language.

Beginners 2 – (A1/2) – 10 weeks – 60mins/lesson

This is a course for students who have either completed the Beginners 1 course or have had some exposure to Czech for example via learning apps or with the help of friends and family.

Elementary 1 – (A1/3) – 10 weeks – 60mins/lesson

The elementary course aims to build on your beginner’s knowledge of Czech. It is suitable for students who have completed the Beginner 2 course or have previous experience with Czech and are able to use (but have not mastered) the following grammar: přítomný a minulý čas, deklinace podstatných jmen v nominativu, vokativu, akuzativu a lokativu.

The Pre-I 1 course aims to build on your (by now hopefully) solid basis of Czech. The course works with a lot of different materials, allowing more space for reading and discussion. Main objective is intensive grammar consolidation, vocabulary development and confidence in spoken word.

• Skloňování podstatných jmen v plurálu

• Vyjadřování preferencí

This is a long on-going group starting the second half of the Česky krok za krokem 2 textbook this term. In order to join this group, students should have understood and be confident in the use of most declination cases and most verbal tenses. This group is more fluid in terms of the course structure and is subject to change depending on the consensus of the group.
1-2-1 classes - £25/60 mins
These individual classes offer a unique opportunity to tailor the learning process to YOUR needs! You choose the pace, learning materials and learning objectives, obviously with the teacher’s support. Adopting a highly person-centered approach, the 1-2-1 classes provide you with a language booster you have been looking for.
Initial meeting – 20 minutes – In this meeting we will assess your needs and language level. We will then agree on one or a mixture of learning objectives.
These can include but are not limited to:
• preparation for a language exam
• purely conversational classes
• grammar crash course
• skills lessons – listening, reading, speaking and writing
These objectives are reviewed regularly to ensure your satisfaction and learning progression.
